Football Kick-off

Across the UK, football is the number one most popular sport – followed by tennis, Formula One, rugby union and athletics. Footy is played everywhere across the nation from the Premier League to the local park, school teams to back gardens. There are 23 million fans, and a third of those are women.*

Football can bring friends, family and even communities together, through support for a team or a simple love of the beautiful game. There are psychological and health benefits from being a supporter too. Professor Daniel Wann, speaking to the Huffington Post, said “We’ve known for years in psychology that feeling connections and affiliations with others is important for well-being. What fandom allows you to do is to gain those connections, which then in turn provides you with social and psychological health.”

Whether you’re an avid fan or a newbie to the game, you’ll be looking for coverage from footy fans as passionate about football as you. Luckily, there’s no shortage of coverage of the sport from dedicated magazines. Titles include Match of the Day, FourFourTwo, Match and World Soccer.
